The Minstrel Players Announce Spring 2005 Production

The Minstrel Players Theatre Company of Northport, Long Island's most exciting theatrical group, prepares for their spring production at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street in scenic Northport Village. They will be staging J.B. Priestley's classic psychological-thriller, "An Inspector Calls". Performances will take place Saturdays, June 11th, 18th and 26th at 8 P.M. and Sundays, June 12th & 19th at 3 P.M. The show on Saturday, June 18th is a special Dinner Theater performance with dinner starting at 6:30 P.M.

The Minstrel Players are fresh off their most critically acclaimed comedy to date, Woody Allen's "Don't Drink the Water". "An Inspector Calls" marks the directorial return of one of the group's founders, Tara Lawrence (who was last seen as director of Winter 2004's "A Christmas Carol"). The cast features Minstrel regulars: John Lucas (Arthur Birling), Karen Ottomano (Sybil Birling), Jef. Lawrence (Gerald Croft), Karen Keenan (Sheila Birling), Peter Guarascio (Eric Birling), Gloria Roberts (Edna) and Ray Palen (Inspector Goole). J.B. Priestley's classic thriller takes place in an English industrial city, where a young girl commits suicide and an eminently respectable British family is subject to a routine inquiry in connection with the death. An inspector calls to interrogate the family, and during the course of his questioning, all members of the group are implicated lightly or deeply in the girl's undoing. What ensues makes for classic psychological theatre, as truths and lies are revealed and the participants may not be who they appear to be.

The Minstrel Players are committed to bringing high quality, affordable theater to the Long Island Region. Tickets are $14.00 each and $12.00 for Seniors. The Dinner Theater performance on Saturday, June 18th, is priced at $30. Opening Night special features all seats at $10 each. For more information please call (800)260-2390 or visit the Minstrel Player's official website at www.minstrelplayers.org. Hope to see you at the show!

A Standing ovation!

That's what The Minstrel Players of Northport received on
opening night when I saw their latest production-An Inspector
Calls. While this play is a staple of community theater, The
Minstrels performed it to perfection. From the direction of
TARA LAWRENCE through to each of the actors, the performances
was riveting and spirited, building to a strong well-acted
confrontational scene in Act II. Both Acts take place in the
Birlings' dining room on a set that was truly inviting and
captured the 1912 period. The talented cast includes RAY PALEN,
KAREN OTTOMANO, JOHN LUCAS, JEF LAWRENCE, KAREN KEENAN, PETER
GUARASCIO, and GLORIA ROBERTS. This is a show not to be missed!
There are still three performances-June 18, 19, and 25. For
ticket information or if you have any questions,
