The Minstrel Players Prepare for Winter Production
The Minstrel Players Theater Company, one of Long Island's newest and most enthusiastic theatrical voices, has recently moved to their new home at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street in scenic Northport Village. They are coming off a successful Northport debut with their Autumn production of
"Bell, Book and Candle". Next up for the Minstrels is a Winter staging of Neil Simon's hilarious comedy,
"Barefoot in the Park". This production will run Saturdays, January 12th, 19th and 26th at 8:00 P.M. and Sundays, January 13th, 20th and 27th at 3:00 P.M.
"Barefoot In the Park" marks the directorial debut of one of the Minstrel Players founding members, Tara Palen-Schwartz. The cast consists of both Minstrel Players veterans and newcomers: Ray Palen (Paul Bratter), Elisabeth Stern (Corie Bratter), Karen Palen-Ottomano (Mrs. Banks), Les Degen (Victor Velasco), Cary Schwartz (Telephone Man) and Robert Cashman (Delivery Man). Keeping everyone in line is the Assistant Director/House Manager and co-founding member, Debbie Palen. Ray and Debbie Palen are Northport residents and are very excited at the opportunity to bring quality theater to the Northport area.
"Barefoot In the Park" is an appropriate show for the winter season as it features the exploits of a newlywed couple living on the top floor of a
"cold" brownstone in NYC. Many will recall the film version of 1967 that featured Robert Redford and Jane Fonda, among others. The stage version is even better and should prove to be an enjoyable evening for both young and old audiences!
The Minstrel Players are committed to bringing high quality, affordable theater to the Long Island Region. Tickets are $12.00 each and $10.00 for Seniors (Sunday performances only). For more information please call (631)754-4246. You can also visit the Minstrel Player's official website at www.minstrelplayers.com, to see pictures of past shows and get more information about the group. Hope to see you at the show!
