THE MINSTREL PLAYERS PRESENT NEIL SIMON'S COMIC CLASSIC PLAY "COME BLOW YOUR HORN"

WRITTEN BY NEIL SIMON AND DIRECTED BY ONE OF THE FOUNDING MINSTRELS - JEF. LAWRENCE AT HOUGHTON HALL THEATRE.

The Minstrel Players Theatre Company of Northport prepare for their winter production of Neil Simon's classic comedy, "Come Blow Your Horn". Performances begin on February 25th and run through March 12th at Houghton Hall Theatre at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street in scenic Northport Village. Performances will take place on Saturdays, February 25th & March 4th and 11th at 8 P.M. and Sundays, February 26th & March 5th and 12th at 3 P.M. The performance on Saturday, March 11th will be a special Dinner Theatre production with dinner beginning at 630PM.

The Minstrel Players are fresh off their critically acclaimed staging of "Dial 'M' For Murder" seen here in October as well as their Holiday production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". "Come Blow Your Horn" features the directorial return of Jef. Lawrence, who had previously directed the fall 2003 production of "The Uninvited". The cast features a host of newcomers to the Minstrel family as well as a few regulars: Ray Palen (Alan Baker), Paul DeGrocco (Buddy Baker), Jim Connors (Mr. Baker), Karen Ottomano (Mrs. Baker), Karen Cambria (Connie Dayton) and Irene Demma (Peggy Evans) represent the principals in this production. Neil Simon's first play, "Come Blow Your Horn", debuted on the Broadway Stage in February, 1961. Many fans will recall the famous film adaptation of 1963 starring Frank Sinatra and Lee J. Cobb. Story synopsis: Alan and Buddy Baker are two brothers going in different directions with their lives. Alan is a free-wheeling playboy who lives just to have a good time & avoid commitment while Buddy is a serious, recent College graduate looking to find his own path. Their father, Mr. Baker, employs both sons in the family Wax Fruit business and would love nothing more than to leave the business to them. Alan works his way out of a job by being consistently unreliable and Buddy leaves home to move in to Alan's bachelor pad and become a writer. Disowned by their father, pursued by girlfriends and various amorous females that live in their apartment building - Alan and Buddy struggle to make their way by finding their true selves and learn some valuable lessons along the way. The result is a hilarious romp as both brothers seemingly "change places" over the course of the play as Alan becomes responsible & serious while Buddy lives the bachelor life. The resolution is handled in the classic Neil Simon style as all characters are brought together for the big finale.
