The Minstrel Players Announce Winter 2005 Production

The Minstrel Players Theatre Company of Northport, Long Island's most exciting theatrical group, prepares for their winter production at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street in scenic Northport Village. They will be staging Woody Allen's classic comedy, "Don't Drink the Water". Performances will take place Saturdays, February 19th , 26th and March 5th at 8 P.M. and Sundays, February 20th, 27th & March 6th at 3 P.M. The show on Saturday, February 26th is a special Dinner Theater performance with dinner starting at 6:30 P.M.

"Don't Drink the Water" marks the Minstrel Players return to comedy and also the directorial return of group founder, Ray Palen (who was last seen as director of Spring 2004's "The Glass Menagerie"). The cast features old and new Minstrels: John Lucas (Walter Hollander), Karen Ottomano (Marion Hollander), Jef. Lawrence (Axel Magee), Tara Lawrence (Susan Hollander), Nick Santasier (Mr. Kilroy), Jim Thomas (Krojack), Tom Williams (Father Drobney), Charlie Connolly (Chef/Kasnar), Rosann Baldanza (Ms. Burns), Dennis Dudley (The Sultan), Jessica Lucas (Sultan's Wife) and Ray Palen (The Ambassador). Woody Allen's classic Cold-War play features an American family of tourists - the Hollander's of New Jersey - being accused of spying behind the Iron Curtain and drawing the ire of the local military police. They run to the American Embassy for protection and find that the Ambassador's bumbling son, Axel Magee, is temporarily running it. Along with the rest of the staff (Mr. Kilroy, Ms. Burns and the Chef), as well as a long-term resident Priest who has been in asylum for 6 years (Father Drobney), the Embassy team scrambles to plot an ingenious escape for the Hollander's right under the enemies nose! The results are some of the most manic and hilarious moments ever seen on stage. You don't have to be a Woody Allen fan to enjoy this comic romp!

The Minstrel Players are committed to bringing high quality, affordable theater to the Long Island Region. Tickets are $14.00 each and $12.00 for Seniors. The Dinner Theater performance on Saturday, February 26th, is priced at $30. Opening Night special features all seats at $10 each.
