ONE PERSON'S (RE)VIEW
From Patricia Servidio
On April 25, The Minstrel Players opened the curtains
on their production of Agatha Christie's The Hollow,
and what a great opening night it was! The cast was top-
notch, and the entire performance was thoroughly enjoyable,
holding my attention until the final curtain fell. Ray
Palen, who both starred in the show and directed, shone as
Dr. John Cristow, a London physician who brings his simple
wife, played flawlessly by Sarah Cassidy, to The Hollow for
a weekend getaway. Other returning Minstrels included Carl
Nehring as a perfectly brooding Edward, Tara Palen as the
beautiful Veronica Craye, Michael J. Freed as the perfectly
poised butler Gudgeon, Evan Donnellan as the thoroughly
inquisitive Inspector, and Roseann Baldanza as Sergeant "I
got it!" Penny. Jim Connors plays the role of Sir Henry
Angkatell with the exact amount of quiet long-suffering that
is necessary to deal with his wife, Lady Angkatell, who was
deftly played by Karen Ottomano. Ms. Ottomano's performance
was the icing on the cake for this fine production; every
scene she was in was absolutely hilarious, and it is my
opinion that she actually stole the show. Worth mentioning
are newcomers Stephanie Augustin, with a cockney accent that
is right off the streets of London, and Vanessa Cuccia, whose
natural acting ability and flowing demeanor showed off her
incredible talent. If you are up for a night of mystery with
a bit of laughter and loads of talent, I would thoroughly
recommend a visit to The Hollow!

Eileen Der Aris played the role of Midge flawlessly, with plenty of emotion.
