The Minstrel Players Announce Fall 2004 Production
The Minstrel Players Theatre Company of Northport, Long Island’s most exciting theatrical group, prepares for their
fall production at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street in scenic Northport Village. They will be staging Frederick Knott’s classic thriller, "Wait Until Dark". Performances will take place Saturdays, October 30th & November 6th and 13th at 8 P.M. and Sundays, October 31st & November 7th and 14th at 3 P.M. The show on Saturday, November 6th is a special Dinner Theater performance with dinner starting at 6:30 P.M.
"Wait Until Dark" is a show the Minstrel Players have been eager to stage for years. It is directed by Tom Williams (who also plays the role of Sam Hendrix). The rest of the cast features old and new Minstrels: Tara Lawrence (Susy Hendrix), Ray Palen (Roat), Jef. Lawrence (Mike Talman), John Lucas (Sgt. Carlino), Jessica Lucas (Gloria), Glen Beck (Sam Hendrix – Wk #3) and Aurora Bisson-Montpetit (Lisa/Patrolmen). The story involves a sinister con-man, Roat (Ray Palen), and two ex-convicts, Mike (Jef. Lawrence) and Carlino (John Lucas), who are about to meet their match. They have traced the location of a mysterious doll to the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix (Tom Williams/Glen Beck), and his blind wife, Susy (Tara Lawrence). Sam had apparently been persuaded by a strange woman to transport the doll across the Canadian border, not knowing that sewn inside were several grams of heroin. The con-man and his ex-convicts, through a cleverly constructed deception, convince Susy that the police have implicated Sam in a murder, and the doll, which she believes is the key to his innocence, is evidence. She refuses to reveal its location, and with the help of a young neighbor, Gloria (Jessica Lucas), figures out she is the victim of a bizarre charade. Who will win when night falls and the opponents have to maneuver in the dark until the game ends?
The Minstrel Players are committed to bringing high quality, affordable theater to the Long Island Region. Tickets are $14.00 each and $12.00 for Seniors. The Dinner Theater performance on Saturday, November 6th, is priced at $30. Opening Night special features all seats at $10 each.
